I am trying to work on my template, and I hate the widgets.
I made a quick graphic to see if I could put it at the top of my page, but I can't. Grr. This is a photo Suzy took at work.

I want to know why some people's blogs are accepting comments, and some (like MY OWN) are not. WTF.
because no one likes you?
you know I'm kidding!!! :-)
*hushed voice* No she isn't. She talks about you behind your back
Carly. If you know your web stuff, you can replace you can click "Layout" then "Edit HTML" and manually replace the top graphic. Look for the header-wrapper in the style sheet area. There you can modify the style to use your background. You may also need to find the corresponding DIV and remove any additional text.
(big fat rasberries)
I've seen that view a million times but never like that. How did those words get there?
you can't tho sarge, with the new version of blogger, it's all widget placeholders and not what I know as "real" html and it's pissing me off.
Amelia, I edited the photo to add the words. THAT part was easy.
I know Carly...I'm not as dumb as I look. Despite the ice cream incident.
see, now, humor is lost on me when I'm pissed off....sorry!
Actually, I see those words when I look at the Albany skyline.
Weird.
Not to spark an argument and get kicked off the blog.. but you can modify it. Widget or otherwise. I even tested it on my site last night with your picture.
Step 1. Click customize on the top bar.
Step 2. Ignore the widget layout stuff. Look near the top for a bar that has "Page Elements", "Fonts and Colors", "Edit HTML", etc...
Step 3. Click "Edit HTML" on that bar
Step 4. Save a copy (just in case). Modify HTML. Use the preview option to see if you've got what you wanted.
Step 5. Tell Sgt... he was right afterall (or just send sushi)
OH.. this is the style for the header:
#header-wrapper {
width:660px;
margin:0 auto 10px;
border:1px solid $bordercolor;
}
You'll want to add something like:
background: url(pathtoimg.gif) no-repeat top;
*************************
The HTML for the header is something like:
{div id='header-wrapper'}
widget junk was here for title
{/div}
I almost follow you, I'm just not smart enough. I get that I need to put my picture somewhere, like xs.to or something. Right?
I need a little more time to work on this and I don't have time right now. Arrrgh!!!
Deep cleansing breaths. By posting it to the blog, you've actually hosted it (altho not always the most reliable). You can reference it by getting the image location from your posting.
I would however recommend one of those image hosting sites. Just be sure it has enough bandwidth since it will appear with every visit to your site.
BTW.. which country song has "Dammit blogger" in it?
If there isn't one, I could probably write one about how my wife left me due to Blogger. It could be a huge hit.
Or maybe it could be about leaving a message on someone's blog saying "if this is Austin, I still love you"
OK.. so I might have stolen that last concept.
